Amoeba
Amoeba are protists taht move and also ingest their food with pseudopods. The word psuedopod can be broken down to pseudo, which means "fake" or "false" and pod which means "foot". The amoebas extend part of their cell membrane through a process called cytoplasmic streaming. The extended part is called the pseudopod.
Amoeba ingest their food through a process called phagocytosis. Phago means "food". The food comes in contact with the amoeba and the amoeba curls around it forming a bubble, or food vacuole, and pulls it into the cell. Amoeba, like the Euglenids, also have a contractile vacuole to remove excess water.
